dyspraxie.lu - Our mission
1. An iPad for each DYS student full time (in class, at home and at exams)
2. Train all teachers and specialised staff in Luxembourg (public and private schools) on the differentiation tools
and adaptations available, especially on the digital tablet in order to avoid the dual cognitive task.
3. Test applications, provide feedback and request DYS friendly features (SnapType, Notability, GeometryPad,
Irissia)
• 4,000+ DYS students work today on iPad in class and at exams in Belgium, France & Luxembourg
• Locally in Luxembourg, and thanks to our interventions:
• The CDA chose the iPad as one of the preferred compensations tool for DYS students (Jan 2020)
• Lux Text of Law will be updated to include many clarifications on the special arrangements and
compensation tools (tablets & applications) allowed for DYS students (expected in April 2022) ,
• Ongoing revision of the Educational Support Policy of the 13 European Schools
• Positioning of the tablet for DYS in France:
• Belgian and French books : Mrs Keunen & Dr Michèle Mazeau (details on last slide)
• “La Nuit des DYS” of the FFDys May 2020, Colloque FISAF, Paris, June 2021

Why an iPad?
• The iPad environment for DYS is proven and fit for purpose for schools :
• IPadIOS is highly intuitive, easier to learn to use than a laptop when diagnosis become available (age 6 - 8), in all languages,
integrated OCR scanner, lighter, longer battery life...
• Android tablets expected to catch up over time (similar performance but lack of proven environment & deployment)
• Laptops lack -a single software package workable for all EU languages (specific DYS features, languages voice dictation & voice
synthesis; Word or OneNote alone are NOT sufficient) and -an integrated scanner.
• The iPad eliminates the barriers of learning
• Removes the dual cognitive task (handwriting + listening , reading + understanding)
• Removes the hurdle of handwriting, spelling, reading and proofreading and provides immediate feedback
• In all languages and all subjects, at home, in class and at exams, WITHOUT WIFI (*) nor Bluetooth
• Advantages for the DYS students : Equal access to education - reach true potential
• Same content as peers via PDF and Word files
• Improved concentration levels
• Faster & improved autonomy, self-esteem and self-confidence (*) Voice dictation might need WIFI in certain EU regions
