Impromptu Speaking
INTRODUCTION, ATTENTION GETTER, AND PURPOSE: 20%
• The speech must be attention getter which grabs the audience and creates
information hunger.
• The speech must possess a clear explanation of the topic which leads
audience smoothly into the speech.
ORGANIZATION AND TRANSITIONS: 20%
• The speech must have organization of complex idea logically, coherently,
and relevantly which helps convey the message clearly.
CONTENT AND LANGUAGE: 20%
• The speaker must make the topic interesting to specified audience, using
appropriate word choices, vocabulary, figurative language, and level of
complexity.
STYLE: 20%
• The speaker must establish and maintain a formal style and relatively
objective tone.
DELIVERY, PREPAREDNESS,AND COMPOSURE: 20%
• The speaker must deliver the speech with proper conviction.
• The speaker must appear to be well-prepared, confident, and comfortable
which enhanced his/her credibility.
