GENERAL TIPS
Planning the letter

• Read the task question carefully and make sure


your letter has a clear focus.As per rule,recent case
history is more important than older case history
• Who am I writing to?
• What is your setting or who am I?
• What information do they need to know?
• What information they don’t need to know?
• What is current complaint?or chief purpose?
Dont
• Don’t write over 220 words
• Don’t write below 180 words
• Don’t copy directly from case notes
• Don’t write all information from task sheet omit the
irrelevant information
• Don’t include information that the intended reader
clearly knows already
• Don’t start writing without planning your letter
• Don’t submit the letter without proof reading
Speaking
General Tips
• Speak loudly and clearly at natural speed
• Take time to read through the role play card
carefully
• Ask yourself question like
• What is your role?
• What role is your interlocutor playing?
• Where is conversation taking place?
• What is current situation?
• What is background information ?
• Take the initiative to start the role play
yourself?
• Don’t worry if the interlocutor stops the role
play after 5 minutes

• Hello, good morning my name is ,and I
will be your attending nurse today
• Hello,my name is ,and I am one of the
Registered Nurse in this facility
• Hello,my name is ,and I will be looking
after you today.
• Can you give me your name please?
• How may I address you?
