 Slowly developed before 2010
 Number of visitors is small compared to its neighbors (under 1
million per year)
 Increases tourism arrivals after Sea Games- Nay Pyi Taw (2013)
 In 2016, tourism arrivals reached up to 4 millions
 Tourism master plan has been created, targeting 7.5 millions arrivals
later 2022

Taukkyan War Cemetery

The Taukkyan War Cemetery is a cemetery for Allied soldiers


from the British Commonwealth who died in battle in Myanmar
during the Second World War. The cemetery is near Taukkyan
township, about 25 kilometres north of Yangon on Pyay Road.

The Strand hotel

Built in 1901 and acquired soon after by the Sarkies brothers,


famed for the likes of Raffles in Singapore and The E&O in
Penang, The Strand Hotel remains one of Asia’s most enduring
and awe-inspiring Colonial landmarks.

Famous throughout Yangon not only for its cocktails and snacks
but also for its weekly live music and live sports events on a wide
