Control 3201
(PCC3201)

Level 3 Genset Control

PCC3200 vs PCC3201
In 2005, the PCC3200 will be phased out and
replaced with the PCC3201

Major differences between the PCC3200 &

PCC3201 are:
Control Packaging:
PCC3201 uses a 4 slot card cage, a combined genset / parallel circuit
board, and a different customer and AC harnessing.
Operator Panel Layout:
On the PCC3201, the operator panel is an integral part of the control
box, on the PCC3200 it was a self contained module.

What Has Recently Changed?
Features Added:
– Power Transfer Control (PTC) to PCC3201 only
• The PTC feature allows the genset control to facilitate the
transfer of load from a utility source to a standby power system.

– AmpSentry UL Listing (under file #E243454)

• The PCC3200/1 with AmpSentry is now a UL Listed utility grade
over current protective relay for emergency electrical systems.
• This will allow generator mounted circuit breakers to be
eliminated or replaced by less expensive disconnect switches in
some applications. Consult factory for application guidelines.
What Is PTC?
The PCC3201 PTC feature allows the genset control to facilitate the
transfer of load from a utility source to a standby power system. The
only external components required is an electrically operated circuit
breaker pair.

The PTC feature can be purchased in three different modes:

– Open transition transfer
The control will disconnect one source before connecting the second source. The
time between opening of one source and closing the second source is
programmable.
– Fast closed transition transfer
The control will operate like open transition transfer when one source has failed,
but when transferring between two available sources it will momentarily parallel
the sources.
– Soft (ramping) closed transition transfer
The control will operate like the open transition mode when one source has failed,
but when transferring between two available sources, it will parallel the sources
and slowly transfer the load to the oncoming source. This minimizes or
eliminates voltage and frequency disturbances to the load.
