3 Types of Lighting Fixtures
• General: Lighting designed to provide a
uniform level of lighting throughout an area.
General lighting should light a room well
enough for occupants to see objects clearly
and move about safely. The amount of
general lighting needed depends on the
shape, size, and use of the room.
• Accent: lighting that emphasizes an area
of or an object in a room. This lighting
adds to the drama or style of a room by
highlighting certain aspects of a room's
decor.
• Task: Task lighting is when lighting is used
to help you see well enough to do certain
task. LIKE STUDYING FOR YOUR

Two types of General Lighting Fixtures
• Direct: Lighting that casts all, or at least 90%, of its light
downward. With intense beams, direct lighting is very
dramatic, rendering forms and textures well.

• Most have a frost
finish that reduce
glare and make
shadows appear
softer.
