THE MAGNITUDE OF A VECTOR & POSITION VECTOR

Starter: Video Application of vectors
Magnitude of Vectors

What shape does this

vector make? How could
we calculate the
3 magnitude of this vector?

Pythagoras’ Theorem: a² + b² = c²

Remember : Magnitude means SIZE

Question 2. The means magnitude

Vector mazes
Use vectors to get through the maze. Record your choices in the table,
using Pythagoras’s theorem to work out the exact length of your route.
Play against an opponent – the person with the smallest route length wins.

Collinear

 Two points lie on the same straight line

 For two points to be collinear they must be parallel and they must have a common point.
I want to show that the points A(3,4), B(5,2) and C(6,1)
are collinear.

= 2 Since are parallel and they share the point B, they must be collinear
