IMPORTANCE TREES IN

LANDSCAPE
Introduction

A tree is a tall plant that can live for a very long time. It has a single stem or
trunk and branches that support leaves.

All types of trees play an important role in our ecosystem. Trees provide shade,
shelter, oxygen, and many even produce fruit. There are over 60,000 species of
trees that come in all shapes and sizes, from majestic cedars to smaller fruit trees
 and shrubs.
• PLANTING TREES:-

Planting Of Trees Is Done For The Purpose-

1. To Provide Shade And Shadows At the Certain Area.

2. Since It Provides Shadow, It Reduces Artificial Cooling
Costs.
3. Obviously, It Looks Beautiful And Purifies The Air Which Is
Submerged With Various Toxic Gases And Pollutants.
4. If We Installed it On the Boundary Of The Site, It Is Very
Useful When Dust Storm Coming To The Site And Trees
Barricates that Storm To Allow Purified And Cool Air.
All species of trees are classified into two main types:

Deciduous Trees and Evergreen Trees.

 Deciduous trees
Deciduous trees are the kind of trees that lose their leaves at certain times of the year.
The term deciduous literally means to “fall off at maturity.”

They are known to catch a lot of sunlight and require lots of water.

Deciduous trees are found in many locations throughout the world, not only in temperate
zones, but also in tropical zones (like rainforests), and Mediterranean zones.

Temperate deciduous trees lose their leaves in the winter when there is a prolonged lack of
sunlight.
But deciduous trees in tropical and Mediterranean zones will lose their leaves when there is
a dry season or drought.
This is because they need a lot of water to produce leaves.
DECIDUOUS TREES

Deciduous trees are generally thought of as broadleaf trees, meaning that

they have broad, flat leaves eg sycamore.
They are also considered to be hardwood trees.
Usually these trees take longer to grow, their wood is harder and has good
preservative qualities.
Their wood generally lasts longer, is harder to work with and more expensive.
A deciduous forest is a forest made up of trees that will drop their leaves in
autumn.
Therefore deciduous forests are full of plants and animal life.
Types of Deciduous Trees

Some of the most well-known deciduous trees

are:

• oak
• maple
• birch
• ash
• willow
• poplar
• aspen
• beech
• walnut
EVERGREEN TREES

When we talk about evergreen trees, we usually think of

conifers, which are trees that have needle-like leaves eg pine
trees. However there are also evergreen trees that have broad,
flat leaves. The wood of a conifer tree is known as softwood.
Generally, softwood is easy to work with and this is what we
mostly use in our houses for flooring, doors etc... Also, conifers
grow more quickly and more upright than deciduous trees,
which has led to the planting of plantations of coniferous
forests purely to provide wood for our use.
