INTRODUCTION
In addition to heat,
pressure is often used
in welding.
WELDING AND ALLIED PROCESSES
Classification
GAS WELDING
GAS WELDING
Resistance welding,
sometimes called electric
resistance welding (ERW), is a
process by which metals can
be joined together by
applying pressure and
conducting a strong electric
current through the metal
combination to heat up the
welding joint and melt the
metals, forging them
together.
ELECTRIC RESISTANCE WELDING
Soldering is a joining
process used to join
different types of
metals together by
melting solder.
SOLDER
Solder is a metal alloy used to create strong permanent bonds; such as copper
joining in circuit boards and copper pipe joints

THERMIT WELDING
THERMIT WELDING
Thermit welding is a
process that uses heat
from exothermic
reaction to produce
coalescence between
metals.
THERMIT WELDING
Brazing is a joining
process traditionally
applied to metals (but
also to ceramics) in
which molten filler
metal (the braze alloy)
flows into the joint
