 QUALITIES OF A COUNSELLOR
A good counsellor should have some qualities to develop
proper attitudes to make a counsellee or client feel at ease
and to build rapport so that the counsellee/client can be
self-disclosed.  These qualities are:
• personal qualities
• Interpersonal qualities
• Academic qualities
• Professional qualities
 QUALITIES OF A COUNSELLOR
 Personal Qualities:
• Should be a person with cultural values and awareness
• Should have a deep interest in helping people
• Should patiently listen to others
• Should be sensitive to other’s attitude and reactions
• Should have a capability for being trusted by others
• Should have respect for the personal autonomy of the
client
• Should be tolerate and accept the clients point of view.
