SSG/SPG in School Governance

Objectives
 Identify the importance of the SSG/ SPG in
School Governance.
 Enumerate the significant roles and
responsibility of SSG/ SPG.

 Once the SRC is prepared, it shall be


signed by the School Head, PTA
President, Student Body President,
Teacher Representatives or Teacher Club
President, and the School Governing
Council Chair to ensure its ownership and
accuracy.
Pursuant to DepEd Order (DO) No. 47,
s. 2014 entitled Constitution and By-
Laws of the Supreme Pupil Government
(SPG) and Supreme Student
Government (SSG) in Elementary and
Secondary Schools, the organization of a
student government (SG) aims to establish a
representative body that fosters leadership
and promote learner's welfare and excellence for all.
In view of the implementation of Senior High School
(SHS) in School Year 2016-2017, the Department of
Education (DepEd), issues additional guidelines on
the integration of the SHS entrants in the organization
of the SSG in all secondary schools.

 SEC. 2. Declaration of State Policies and Objectives. -


The State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-
building and thus, promotes and protects their physical,
moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being,
inculcates in them patriotism, nationalism and other
desirable values, and encourages their involvement in
public and civic affairs.
 Towards this end, the State shall establish adequate,
effective, responsive and enabling mechanisms and
support systems that will ensure the meaningful
participation of the youth in local governance and in
nation-building.

 Promote a greater degree of unity,
respect, spirit, and cooperation among
students, faculty, staff and
administration;

 Offer and oversee activities for
furthering the academic, social, and
spiritual growth of the student body;
As a Student Government, We…
 Provide a democratic and
representative forum through which
students may address school-related
issues affecting the student body;

 Represent to the faculty and
administration the concerns of the
student body regarding academic and
disciplinary policies.

more or less with value on their part as student body.
SG as Learners
It is an important component of their roles, being part in
the organization would require the ability to be a learner,
the capacity to talk and to listen most often.
Ano pa ba ang kayang gawin ng SPG/ SSG
sa loob ng paaralan?
• Organize the participation of students and volunteers in the
Annual Brigada Eskwela;
• Lead/participate in the National Greening Program (NGP) and
other environment-related activities;
• Conduct book and toy drive and other school supplies for
donation to schools;
• Conduct activities to prevent students from dropping out of
schools;
• Assist in ensuring that the school is smoke/tobacco free place;
• Lead students in organizing activities which start during
Teacher’s Month Campaign every September and which
culminate during the World Teacher’s Day Celebration on
October 5;
• Actively participate in crafting the school SIPs and and
activities of the SGCs; and
• Encourage support and participation of students in recognized-
co-curricular clubs/organizations and activities.
