Prayer

Dear Lord and Father of all,

Thank you for today.
Thank you for ways in which you provide for us all. For
Your protection and love we thank you.
Help us to focus our hearts and minds now on what we
are about to learn.
Inspire us by Your Holy Spirit as we listen and write.
Guide us by your eternal light as we discover more about
the world around us.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
GOOD AFTERNOON!

Mrs. Marissa G. Palangan

House Rules

1.Be respectful
2.Be cooperative
3.Listen attentively
4.Put all your gadgets to silent mode
5.Raise your hand to speak
6.Maintain social distancing
7.Wear your facemask
As a review during your Junior High
school mathematics lesson, you are
taught about sets and ordered pairs.
sets (2,4)
Ordered pairs [(1,2),(2,4),(3,6),(4,8)]
Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners shall
be able to:
1. Define functions and related terms;
2. Determine if the given relation represents
a function;
2. Represents real – life situations using
functions.
Group Activity(3 mins.)

“Unscramble the Scramble”

Unscramble the Scramble
1. Relation

2. Domain

3. Range

4. Function
Group Game(5mins.)
“connect”
In the same Grouping the representative of the
group will get the metacards, connect it with the
metacards posted in the board to form a sentence.
The first group to connect and paste the sentence
will win!
 Relation is a set of ordered pairs. The domain of
a relation is the set of first Coordinates (the value
of x). The range is the set of second coordinates
(the value of y).
What does it mean? During our junior high school
mathematics we are taught by our teachers about
ordered pairs, what is ordered pairs? It is a
numbers that are enclosed in parenthesis and
separated by a comma. (2,6),(5,7)

2. [(4,2),(4,-2),(9,3),(9,-3)

3. [(1,a),(1,b),(1,c),(1,d)]
A function is a relation or rule of correspondence between
two elements (domain and range) such that each element in
the domain corresponds to exactly one element in the range.
To further understand function, let’s study the following.
Given the following ordered pairs, which relations are
functions?
A = {(1,2), (2,3), (3,4), (4,5)}
B = {(3,3), (4,4), (5,5), (6,6)}
C = {(1,0), (0, 1, (-1,0), (0,-1)}
D = {(a,b), (b, c), (c,d), (a,d)}
The relations A and B are functions because
each element in the domain corresponds to a
unique element in the range. Meanwhile,
relations C and D are not functions because they
contain ordered pairs with the same domain [C
= (0,1) and (0,-1), D = (a,b) and (a,d)].

3. The vertical line test
A graph represents a function if only if and only if no
vertical line intersects the graph in more than one
point.
Functions as representations of real-life
situations can often be used to model real-life
situations. Identifying an appropriate
functional model will lead to a better
understanding of various phenomena. We said
that for a relation to become a function, the
value of the domain must correspond to a
single value of the range. Let’s read a
conversation and determine if they can be
classified as function or not
(10 minutes)
“Make a convo”
On the same groupings, you will do
the activity:
Each group will develop a
scenario/conversation representing
real life functions and make a
reflection
Each group will choose a
representative to discuss your output
