Measures of Central Tendency

MEAN, MEDIAN, MODE

MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY
OR MEASURES OF AVERAGE

 A central Tendency or Measure of Central Tendency is a central or

typical value for a probability distribution. It may also called a center
or location of the distribution. The term central tendency refers to the
“middle” value or perhaps a typical value of the data, and is measured
using the mean, median, mode.
MEAN

 MEAN IS THE AVERAGE OF THE NUMBERS.

N = total frequency

Median =Lm +i Where Median Class = classes where N/2 belong

Lm = lower limit of Median class
= sum of freq before Med Class
fm = frequency of Med Class

Mode = Lmod + I Where : Modal Class = classes with highest frequency

Lmod = lower limit of Modal Class.
= highest f minus f before it.
= highest f minus f after it.
