importance of personality development, I started
to percept the strengths and weakness in myself. I
strongly believe in my qualities which I posses and
will work towards confrontation of my
weakness to change it to my strength.

I met a farmer named Mr. Kesavan at the
old age home, whohas lost almost
everything in
life. He was a successful farmer at
the beginning, but suffered
a great loss in

find a solution for the failure and
blamed the
nature and financial aids from the govt.

Leadership denot es t he abilit y t o lead
people t o attain success. The qualities
required for the
same are :
 Setting objective : Once we got the project
t opic, I underst ood t hat t he object ive of
t he work is to analyze
people.
 Organizing & planning: I with my team
members collect ed det ails of t he old age

Ambition : I had an ambition to meet our
senior most cit iz ens, and get t he
experiences from them.
Intelligence : Before the visit to Karunya

about t he
Empathy : I understood on talking with the old
people that I should think & react at their level
so as to know more from them.
Human Relations & People skills : This is the
area I personally t hink I should improve a lot .
I was struggling to get with the people
there in
t he old age home, event hough I did bet t er
w it h my team.
Object ivit y : Even I had t o face lot of
st ruggles in getting permission to visit the

 Mr.Kesavan was so sad when we met him.
He w as t he resident of t he old agehome
since a year. The chairmanof t he
old age home t old that Mr.Kesavan is
a reserved person and he is verymuch
depressed of what has happened to his
life. He was typical farmer who owned acres of
land where he has made every types of crops in
the seasons. He was a happy man with his
family. Every step in his agriculture was
success. He was a socially respected
person.
Gradually the agricultural sector
begin to decline and Kesavan
sufferedint angible
losses in his w ork. He could not
acceptwhat has happened to him, his
wife’s death,
daughters questioning his activities etc.
He
blamed t he nat ure and improper
financial aids from govt. He became a
social nuisance soon .
 From this case study, let us analyze
the fact ors in which Kesavan
has t o improve.
According t omy underst anding, he
should improve his :
 Perception
 Attitude
 Rationality
 Persistence
 Learning & Knowledge
 Motivation
 I strongly believe that the reason for
Mr.Kesavan’s depressed personality is due
to
his lacking of confidence and
mot ivat ion. One another reason is
lack of support from his
familymembers and commonpeople t oo. If
he had got better support from
his family and if
he had consulted with a person who would
have given guidance t o him in his decline,
he would not be in such a
situation now.

TIME MANAGEMENT
As the proverbUNIT:1
states, time and tide waits for
none. So ut iliz at ion of t ime must be done in
t he perfect manner.
The ot her word for t ime
management is punctuality.
Time can be utilized efficiently by:
 Tackling t he t asks: t ackle t he
highly important/urgent tasks
first
 Compiling the required steps to
fulfill the
t asks : set t ing deadlines for t he
complet ionof highly important tasks to
Utilizing the available resources in an
efficient manner, i.e. finding quick
ways t o solve the highlyurgent
tasks with less
personal involvement

never afford to lose. It is important
to manage the

Palakkad. We had a strict
t ime limit for each and every work t o be
done there. The pre-planned decisions
were:
Conversat ion wit h chairman t o underst and
about the home for30 minutes
Mingle wit h t he old people t ill

noon
Leave the old age home at 2pm

Obviously what ever planned has been gone

wrong right from the beginning. As we
have a basic
knowledge about Time management ,we changed
t he plan accordingly with time. So we changed
the
decisions as:

BARRIERS
:
 We reached t he t rust lit t le lat e t han
t he planned time due to high
traffic.
 As medical camp was going on t here, we
lost another half an hour
 Non- cooperat ion of t he resident s at old
age home.
 Delay of organized food due to improper
transportation of food by the catering
people.
Solving t he
issues
 The barriers never dist ract ed us from
our objective. In spite of
inefficient time
utilization, we made time to speak
with the
residents in an effective way.
 As quot ed earlier, all t he t ime allot t ed in
t he pre- planned decisions were
changed
accordingly with the situations
without emot ionally dist ract ing
t he resident s and authority
Efficient time manager in our
team
 I not iced t hat during t he
assignment w ork my teammate
Rahul, managed the time
efficiently:
 He w as punct ual arriving t he t arget ed
place before 15 minutes.
 He was talking politely with the
residents wit hin a t ime- grid & also
made us t o spend the time
likewise.
 He w as t he one who gave an idea t o
Comparison on saving
time
 As I quoted, Rahul was the efficient
time managerin our t eam. I could
have managed time efficiently if:
 I could have been punct ual, reaching t he
place before 10minutes, as I know
the route clearly.
 I could have prepared a questionnaire the
before day it self t o reduce t he t ime in
making it on-time
