REFLECTION JOURNAL
Fourth Quarter

Today, I take a moment to reflect on my experience in applying a learner-centered teaching

philosophy in my Filipino classroom. This approach has revolutionized the way I approach Filipino
education, as it empowers students to become active participants in their own learning. By shifting
the focus from teacher-led instruction to student engagement and exploration, I have witnessed
remarkable growth and enthusiasm among my students.

In my Filipino lessons, I prioritize inquiry-based learning to foster a deep understanding of

scientific concepts. Instead of simply presenting information, I encourage my students to ask
questions, investigate, and discover. By posing thought-provoking questions and designing hands-
on experiments, I provide them with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills and a genuine
curiosity for the subject. This learner-centered approach not only enhances their understanding of
scientific principles but also equips them with the skills to think independently and problem-solve.

Collaboration plays a pivotal role in my learner-centered Filipino classroom. By encouraging

students to work in small groups, I create an environment where they can learn from each other's
perspectives and experiences. Through collaborative discussions, they develop their communication
and teamwork skills while gaining a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. Moreover, this
collaborative approach fosters a sense of shared ownership over their learning, as they learn to
respect and value each other's contributions. Witnessing their active engagement and the
meaningful interactions that take place during group work reaffirms the value of a learner-centered
approach in Filipino education.

In conclusion, the application of a learner-centered teaching philosophy in teaching

Filipinohas revolutionized my classroom. By prioritizing inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and
technology integration, I have witnessed a transformation in my students' engagement, critical
thinking, and scientific literacy. Their active participation and genuine curiosity for the subject
motivate me to continue exploring innovative ways to empower them as independent thinkers and
lifelong learners. I am confident that by nurturing their scientific inquiry skills and providing a
supportive learning environment, I am preparing them to thrive in an ever-evolving scientific
world.
