JOURNAL ON LEARNER-CENTERED PHILOSOPHY
First Quarter In the learner-centered teaching philosophy I follow, students are viewed as active participants in their education rather than passive recipients of knowledge. I believe in creating a student-centered environment where learners' interests, needs, and abilities are taken into consideration when designing lessons and activities. By engaging students in meaningful discussions, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiences, they become motivated to explore and deepen their understanding of the subject matter. I also encourage open communication and feedback, fostering a supportive learning community where students feel empowered to share their thoughts and ideas. Second Quarter Cultural responsiveness is an integral part of my learner-centered teaching philosophy. I recognize the diversity within my classroom and the impact of culture on students' learning experiences. By incorporating culturally relevant materials, diverse perspectives, and inclusive teaching practices, I aim to create a learning environment where all students feel represented and valued. Through discussions about different cultures and worldviews, students develop empathy and understanding, promoting a sense of unity and appreciation for the richness of human experiences. Third Quarter A key aspect of my learner-centered teaching philosophy is promoting metacognition and self-regulated learning. I encourage students to reflect on their learning processes, set goals, and monitor their progress. By teaching them how to ask questions, make connections, and apply their knowledge, students become more autonomous and confident learners. I also provide opportunities for peer feedback and self-assessment, allowing students to develop a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement. Through metacognitive strategies, learners develop lifelong skills that extend beyond the classroom.
