PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

My Personal Teaching Philosophy

A teaching philosophy is a set of beliefs concerning the practice of pedagogy and

the process of learning.
It is my belief that learning should be learner-centered. And this is the reason
why I adhere to Humanistic Philosophy of Education. The Humanistic Learning
Theory was developed by Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers and James F.t Bugental in
the early 1900’s.
The focus of Humanistic Psychology is that learners bring out the best of
themselves and that humans are driven by their feelings more than rewards and
punishments. The belief that humans by feelings causes educators who
understand humanistic psychology to focus on the underlying human emotional
issues when they see bad behaviours, not just punish the bad behavior.
The humanistic learning theory developed further and harnesses the idea that if
students are upset, sad or distress, they are less likely to be able to focus on
learning. This encourages teachers to create a classroom environment that helps
students to feel comfortable and safe so they can focus on their learning.
Emotions ate at the center of humanistic psychology. I always consider that
learning should be fun and enjoyable. The harder we push students to learn, the
less likely that they get focused. The desire should come from within themselves.
As a teacher, my goal is to motivate learners, to stimulate interests, and make sure
that they would love learning and would be looking forward for more everyday.

REFLECTION/JOURNAL ENTRY

FOURTH QUARTER

LESSON PLAN IN FILIPINO

Layunin: Nagagamit ang mga salitang kilos sa pag-uusap tungkol sa iba’t ibang
gawain sa tahanan, paaralan, at pamayanan.

A teacher has goals to achieve. Mine is to motivate my learners to stimulate

interest and to make sure that they would love learning and would be looking
forward for more every day. A goal that adheres to one of the student-centered
philosophies of teaching which is the Humanistic Theory. Believing and trusting
this Philosophy I always make sure to involve the learners to the entire teaching
and learning process of my everyday lesson. Their engagement in this process
should always be convenient and comfortable for each of them.
Continuously keeping in mind, the thought that pupils who are upset, sad or
distress, they are less likely to focus on learning. Giving them rewards or prizes to
during games or activities that I prepare for my class will somehow make them feel
motivated and of course happy and excited. Occasionally I give them candies for
those who participates well in the class discussion and activities. It greatly works.
In my lesson, I let them draw, sing, write wherein constructivism and reflective
were tacked. As teachers we should always make sure to engage our learners in
the development of our lesson. Focus on a learner-centered learning during the
planning and execution of our lesson. This should continually be our priority.
