REFLECTION FOR LEARNER CENTERED TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." - John Dewey. This quote by
John Dewey summarizes his belief in the importance of education as a holistic, lifelong process
rather than a means to an end. He believed that education should be focused on the needs and
interests of the individual, and should foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and active
participation in society.

The concept of learner-centered learning emphasizes the importance of tailoring

education to the needs and interests of the individual student. It involves creating a learning
environment that is interactive, collaborative, and inquiry-based, where students are actively
engaged in their own learning process. Learner-centered learning can be contrasted with more
traditional, teacher-centered approaches that prioritize the transmission of information from
teacher to student.

It recognizes that each learner is unique and has their own needs, interests, and abilities.
The primary goal of a learner-centered approach is to facilitate the growth and development of
learners by actively engaging them in the learning process and tailoring instruction to their
individual needs.

My learner-centered philosophy for the first to fourth quarter revolves around creating a
supportive and engaging learning environment where students can develop strong literacy skills,
effective communication abilities, and a lifelong love for language and literature.

I actively involved my learners in the learning process through hands-on activities,

discussions, and problem-solving exercises. I encouraged them to think critically, ask them
questions, and let them explore concepts on their own.

I encouraged my pupils to collaborate with their peers, share ideas, perspectives, and
experiences. Collaborative learning activities promote communication skills, teamwork, and the
development of social relationships.
