Enhancing Catch Up Fridays: A Subject Teacher of Intermediate Grade Level Insights, Comments,
Recommendations and Feedback for Department of Education (DepEd)

As an Intermediate Subject Grade Level teacher of Linasin Elementary School, I’ve had the opportunity to
engage with the Catch-Up Friday’s initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd). While this program
aims to address learning gaps and provide additional support for my intermediate learners, I believe there are
areas for improvement based on my experience and observations. Here are my comments, recommendations,
and feedback.

Comments:
1. Engagement Levels: One observation is the varying levels of engagement among learners during
Catch-Up Fridays. While some learners eagerly participate and benefit from the additional support,
others seem disinterested or struggle to grasp the concept being reinforced.
2. Resource Allocation: Depending on the school’s resource, some Catch Up Friday’s session lack the
necessary materials or facilities to effectively cater to the diverse learning needs of my intermediate
learners.
3. Time Management: Balancing Catch Up Fridays with regular curriculum delivery can be challenging.
There is often pressured to cover essential topics while ensuring adequate time is allocated for Catch
Up sessions.
Recommendations:
1. Personalized Learning Plans: Implementing personalized learning plans for students can enhance the
effectiveness of Catch-Up Fridays. By identifying individual learning gaps and tailoring interventions
accordingly, teachers can provide targeted support that meets students' specific needs.
2. Interactive and Multi-Sensory Activities: Incorporating interactive and multi-sensory activities into
Catch Up Fridays can make learning more engaging and accessible for students. Utilizing educational
games, hands-on activities, and visual aids can help reinforce concepts in a meaningful way.
3. Professional Development: Providing professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance
their skills in differentiated instruction and classroom management can improve the quality of Catch-
Up Friday’s sessions. Empowering teachers with the necessary tools and strategies will enable them
to effectively address the diverse needs of my intermediate learners.
Feedback:
1. Positive Aspects: Catch Up Fridays provide a valuable opportunity for my intermediate learners to
receive additional support and reinforcement in key subject areas. The initiative demonstrates
DepEd's commitment to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically.
2. Areas for Improvement: There is a need for greater flexibility and customization in the
implementation of Catch-Up Fridays to better meet the unique needs of my intermediate learners.
Additionally, more support and resources should be allocated to schools to ensure the success of the
program.
In conclusion, while Catch Up Fridays have the potential to positively impact student learning
outcomes, there are opportunities for refinement and enhancement. By implementing personalized
learning plans, incorporating interactive activities, and providing ongoing professional development
