REFLECTION ON A LEARNER-CENTERED PHLOSOPHY

Providing my students an enjoyable and fulfilling learning experience in the

classroom is what I am striving for as a classroom teacher. I truly believe that the active
learning concept is a useful strategy for achieving this objective. I am delighted to share
my views on the effects of the active learning practices I have included into my teaching
practice for this academic year.

With active learning, the traditional function of the teacher is changed from that of
knowledge provider to a role of facilitator, guiding students along their learning path.
This method fosters critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper
comprehension of the subject matter by encouraging students to take an active role in
their education. Active learning practices have made significant improvements in the
dynamics of my classroom, in my opinion.

Student participation has grown, which is one of active learning's evident

advantages. Students actively participate in conversations, group activities, and hands-on
experiences rather than passively listening to lectures. Their interest is piqued, they are
inspired to investigate concepts, and they develop a sense of ownership over their
education due to this active participation. The students focus, involvement, and overall
enthusiasm for what they're learning have all improved noticeably.

Peer-to-peer learning and collaboration are also encouraged through active

learning. Students develop their ability to collaborate, appreciate differing viewpoints,
and clearly convey their ideas via group projects, discussions, and problem-solving
exercises. In addition to improving their social skills, this collaborative setting fosters a
welcoming and inclusive school community. Through these collaborative interactions,
students are more likely to learn from one another, share knowledge, and get a deeper
comprehension of the subject matter.

The fact that active learning accommodates a variety of learning styles is another
important benefit. Every student learns differently, and by utilizing a range of active
learning techniques, I can accommodate individual preferences and skills. Active learning
offers students a variety of ways of engaging with the content, whether it is through
visual aids, hands-on learning, or interactive technology. This individualized method
enables each student to discover their own style of understanding things, which
eventually improves the learning outcomes.

In conclusion, I have had a really positive teaching experience using active

learning. This philosophy has improved student participation, teamwork, and critical
thinking abilities in my experience. The atmosphere of the classroom has changed to be
more lively, participatory, and welcoming. Although careful preparation and adaption to
various courses and needs of students are necessary for active learning, the advantages

exceed the difficulties by a wide margin. To provide students with a transforming

learning experience, I'm committed as an educator to consistently researching and
implementing active learning practices.
