STRATEGY FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF TEACHING
AND LEARNING
• 15.5 Curriculum Contextualization, Localization, and
Indigenization Curriculum contextualization is the process of
matching the curriculum content and instructional strategies
relevant to learners. Student diversity requires that teachers
always consider individual differences in lesson planning and
implementation. Teachers identify and respond to opportunities
to link teaching and learning in the classroom to the experiences,
interests, and aspirations of the wider school community and
other key stakeholders.

curriculum and/or learning resources to a

How will students interact with the
material?
In designing activities in the classroom using
authentic materials, it is important to set the
purpose first.
Helpful questions
How will students interact with the material?
What will students learn?
Why will they learn it?
In what level should
localizing and
indigenizing the
curriculum be done?
“ The concept of
contextualization falls on the
idea that learners learned best
when experiences in the
classroom have meanings and
relevance in their lives.”
