INDUSTRIAL TRANING PRESENTATION

COMPOSITE PROFILE ENGINEERING SDN BHD

INTRODUCTION

 The purpose of industrial training is to expose students to real working environment.

For my objective for having industrial training is to :

 1) Expose to the new working environment

• 2) To gain knowledge and equipment exposure

at the workplace

 3) To improve my soft skills

What did I learned?
• The Process
• Pultrusion is a manufacturing process for producing continuous lengths of reinforced
polymer structural shapes with constant cross-sections. Raw materials are a liquid resin
mixture (containing resin, fillers and specialized additives) and flexible textile reinforcing
fibers. The process involves pulling these raw materials (rather than pushing, as is the case
in extrusion) through a heated steel forming die using a continuous pulling device.

• The reinforcement materials are in continuous forms such as rolls of fiberglass mat and doffs
of fiberglass roving. As the reinforcements are saturated with the resin mixture ("wet-out")
in the resin bath and pulled through the die, the gelation, or hardening, of the resin is
initiated by the heat from the die and a rigid, cured profile is formed that corresponds to the
shape of the die.
• While pultrusion machine design varies with part geometry, the basic pultrusion process
concept is described in the schematic shown below.
Industrial training and related subject
 To practice the Soft skills value that I has learned in the early semester.
 Performing / observe work study as I learned in Industrial Engineering subject.
• 1 - Continuous roll of reinforced fibers/woven fiber mat
• 2 - Tension roller
• 3 - Resin Impregnator
• 4 - Resin soaked fiber
• 5 - Die and heat source
• 6 - Pull mechanism
• 7 - Finished hardened fiber reinforced polymer
• MOLD RELEASE PRODUCTS:
• Mold Release Agents
• Semi-Permanent
• Multiple Release Wax-Based
• Mold Sealants
• Cleaners
• Compounds & Polishes
• Additional Waxes
• Supplementary Products
• 105 Resin is a low viscosity resin that easily wets out the cloth and allows for minimal air
bubbles between the cloth layers.

• 205 Fast Hardener allows sufficient time to wet out each layer then gels up quickly so the mold
building process can be completed in a few hours.

• 406 Colloidal Silica is used to thicken the epoxy system to aid in applying epoxy to vertical
surfaces, filling corners and details in the mold.

• 423 Graphite Powder is used to give the tooling coat layer of the mold a black color and a
harder, more durable surface.
INDUSTRY TRAINING AND
RELATED SUBJECT
• Expand and related the knowledge in knowing the type of welding , defect that occur in
welding when studying Manufacturing Process in semester 4 (theory) and Practical
( semester 5)
• To practice the Soft skills value that I has learned in the early semester.
• Performing / observe work study as I learned in Industrial Enginnering subject
IMPROVEMENTS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Limitations
• System /staff management
• Services updated
• Quality management (item misplaced)

• Recommendations
• Hire a high skilled staff according to their field
• Keep udpdated & alert with the changes of worker/staff
• Ensure continuous practices (regularly monitoring by officer)
CONCLUSION

• I am very grateful to Composite Profile Engineering Sdn Bhd, Mr Lee, Encik Zainul,Miss
Ester, Mr Raymond, all other staff and UMP industrial supervisor because
• I have been exposed to the new working environment in mechanical engineering field.
• I have gained knowledge and equipment exposure at this factory.
• And also I have improve my soft skills during my internship.
