Unrestricted Logging
Steps to prevent:
Forestry law enforcement, forestry management, and local
communities must be encouraged to actively combat illegal
logging.
Criminology theories provide intervention mechanisms that could
prevent or severely limit illegal logging in the forests.
Transparency strategies include remote sensing, wood tracking operation
standards, and independent certification.
How to stop:
spreading the word amongst
your community
ensuring that you support a political
group with good environmental
policies.
Burning of Fossil Fuel
Steps to prevent:
Choosing alternate forms of transportation saves on the fossil fuel used to run
your car. Consider taking public transportation if your city offers a bus, train or
subway system. Taking public transportation allows you to read or do other
tasks while someone else handles the driving. Walking or riding your bike gives
you exercise while saving fossil fuel.
Spreading the word about reducing fossil fuels makes others more aware of
the need to conserve. Forming a community group to raise awareness about
energy conservation also helps spread the word.
