Assessment 4

Task 2:

1. Document any kind of improper waste disposal. Take pictures of or videotape the
wrong practice as evidence.

2. List down ways of applying solid waste management as solution to these improper
ways.
Proper waste segregation is essential for effective waste management and
environmental conservation. Here are ways to apply proper waste segregation as
a solution to improper waste disposal practices:

1. Educational Campaigns: Conduct awareness campaigns to educate

communities about the importance of waste segregation. Provide
information on the types of waste and the proper ways to separate them.
2. Clear Signage: Install clear signage with simple informative near waste
collection points to guide people on how to segregate their waste properly.
Use visual aids and simple instructions/examples to enhance understanding.
3. Community Workshops: Organize workshops within communities to
demonstrate the proper techniques for waste segregation. Engage residents
in hands-on activities to reinforce the learning process.
4. Distribution of Recycling Bags: Provide households with separate bags or
bins for recyclables, making it convenient for residents to segregate materials
like paper, plastic, glass, and metal from general waste.
5. Public Service Announcements: Utilize various media channels, including
radio, television, and social media, to broadcast public service
announcements emphasizing the importance of waste segregation and
providing practical tips.
6. Incentive Programs: Introduce incentive programs to encourage proper
waste segregation. Rewards or recognition can be given to communities,
schools, or individuals who consistently practice effective waste segregation.

Task 3:

1. Observe your home environment.

2. List down good ways manifested in your home aligned with reducing greenhouse
emissions.
As I've looked around our home, it's clear that we can make choices to be
more environmentally friendly. One way is by using energy-efficient appliances
and light bulbs. This not only helps us reduce our electricity usage but also
decreases the demand on power plants that might rely on fossil fuels. Another
simple step is to unplug electronic devices and chargers when we're not using
them to prevent what they call "phantom" energy consumption.

When it comes to water, we can be mindful of our usage. Fixing leaks in

pipes is a good practice, not just for saving water but also for reducing the
energy needed to treat and pump water, every drop counts.
Being careful about what we buy also makes a difference. We should choose
products that leave a smaller carbon footprint. This means opting for energy-
efficient appliances and looking for items made from eco-friendly materials.
Supporting companies with sustainable practices, and choosing products with
minimal packaging, is a small yet impactful way to contribute to a greener and
healthier environment.
