Considering the distance of the load in the
Crane viewpoint of a right triangle as depicted
below, the person can easily estimate the

proper distance he/she should be from the
suspended load.
20 Ton If the arm extends past the 45 degree angle
(person #1) then they are too close.
If the arm 45 degrees or less, then the person
is within an adequate distance (person #2)

1. The higher the load, the greater the
distance required by this rule for the
operator to be considered safe. This takes
into consideration the potential for
shrapnel and debris created from a fall of
10 Ton increased distance.

can safely be.
