WHAT IS TRAVEL?

• Travel is the movement of people between distant


geographical locations. Travel can be done by foot,
bicycle, automobile, train, boat, bus, airplane, ship
or other means, with or without luggage, and can
be one way or round trip.
WHAT IS TOURISM?

• Tourism is a temporary short term moment of people of


destinations outside the place of their residence. Tourism is
undertaken for recreation, sight seen, pilgrimage for
medical reasons, for adventure etc.

INBOUND
TOURISM

When someone
travels to a country,
other than their own
country, for tourism,
this is called
inbound tourism.
OUTBOUND TOURISM

• When a tourist travels or visits outside his or her country for the sake
of tourism, but not for more than a year. This type of tourism is called
outbound tourism.
DOMESTIC TOURISM

• Domestic tourism is BIG business in some countries, bringing in a significant


revenue for the economy of the local area and nationwide.
TYPES OF TOURISM

1. FIT Tourism :- Instead of comprehensive travel


packages for groups, FIT tourism travelling is
more personal and individual. Travellers design
their own trips, choose their own destinations and
visits, based on the information already they
have.
2. MICE :- Nothing to do with pest control,
everything to do with business-minded travel. Put
simply, MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives,
Conferences & Exhibitions. It is business tourism
at its finest, aimed at bringing together top
professionals from every sector in an enhanced,
tailor-made hospitality setting.
3) Recreational: Recreational or leisure
tourism takes a person away from the
humdrum of everyday life. In this case,
people spend their leisure time in the hills,
sea beaches, etc.
4) Cultural tourism satisfies cultural and
intellectual curiosity and involves visits to
ancient monuments, places of historical or
religious importance, etc.

5) Sports/Adventure: Trips taken by people


with a view to playing golf, skiing and
hiking, fall within this category.
6) Health: Under this category, people
travel for medical, treatment or visit
places where there are curative
possibilities, for example, hot springs, spa
yoga, etc.

7) Religious tourism :- Or spiritual


tourism, sacred tourism, or faith tourism,
is a type of tourism with two main
subtypes: pilgrimage, meaning travel for
religious or spiritual purposes, and the
viewing of religious monuments and
artefacts, a branch of sightseeing.

AIRLINES

• An airline is a company that provides air transport services for traveling


passengers and freight. Airlines use aircraft to supply these services and may
form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for codeshare agreements, in
which they both offer and operate the same flight.

HOTEL

• A hotel is an establishment that


provides paid lodging on a short-
term basis. Facilities provided
inside a hotel room may range
from a modest-quality mattress in
a small room to large suites with
bigger, higher-quality beds, a
dresser, a refrigerator and other
kitchen facilities, upholstered
chairs, a flat screen television, and
en-suite bathrooms.

LOCAL TOURS & TRANSFERS

• Tours :- A local tour guide is similar to a welcome


letter, but it is more substantial and offers guests a
list of specific places to visit and things to do while
they enjoy their stay in your area. Guests can find
tour guides incredibly useful because they aren't
familiar with the place.
• Transfers :- In travel, a transfer is local travel
arranged as part of an itinerary, typically airport to
hotel and hotel to hotel. Transfer has some features
that distinguish it from ground transportation
alternatives. These features are meeting directly in a
transport hub, the opportunity to choose a car class
and additional options like a baby seat.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is an insurance product for covering unforeseen losses incurred


while travelling, either internationally or domestically. Basic policies generally
only cover emergency medical expenses while overseas, while comprehensive
policies typically include coverage for trip cancellation, lost luggage, flight
delays, public liability, and other expenses.

of permitted visits, or if the individual has the ability to work in the country in question.

• Forex Services or Foreign Exchange Services is the exchange of a


particular currency for another or the conversion of currency to
another. Foreign exchange transactions comprise of everything starting
from the conversion of money at an airport kiosk by a traveller to
multi-billion dollar payments processed by governments, corporations
and financial institutions.
