    INTEGERS – set of negative whole


    numbers, zero, and positive whole
    numbers.
    ADDITION OF INTEGERS
    Rules:
    1. THE SAME signs → ADD →copy the sign.

    2. DIFFERENT signs → SUBTRACT → copy


    the sign of the LARGER number.
    5+ 4=¿
    −2+8=¿
    −2+(−3)=¿
    − 4+ 0=¿
    3+(−2)=¿
    −5+(−5)=¿
    − 4+7=¿
    −3+ 3=¿
    −9+ 3=¿
    SUBTRACTION OF INTEGERS
    Subtraction of integers is the addition of the negative of a number.

    Steps:
    Copy the first number
    Change the operation to addition
    Change the sign of the subtrahend
    Proceed to addition using the addition rules.

    5–3 5 + (-3) = 2
    4–7 4 + (-7) = -3
    4 − 5=¿
    2 −(− 4 )=¿
    −3 − 5= ¿
    − 4 − 0= ¿
    −3 −(− 4)=¿
    11−(−5)=¿
    −3 −(− 4)=¿
    0 −(−8)=¿
    0 −(−3)=¿
    −8 − 2= ¿
    − 4 −(− 4)=¿
