ABSTRACT:
 In radio communication and avionics, a conformal antenna or conformal array is a flat
array antenna which is designed to conform or follow some prescribed shape. It consists
of multiple individual antennas mounted on or in the curved surface which work together
as a single antenna to transmit or receive radio waves.

 Various parameters such as return loss, radiation pattern, bandwidth, gain, VSWR,
directivity, efficiency can be determined. The optimized antenna design and results are
presented by using CST (Computer Simulation Technology) software.
INTRODUCTION:

 Conformal antennas have been studied for several decades due to possibility to utilize
them in different applications such as satellite communication, air crafts and mobile
communication.
 One of the main advantages of using these antenna structure to replicate the form of an
object on which there are place.
 The direction finding is a major research field in the signal processing which has
connections to a wide range of electronic systems in the civil and military applications.
 The DOA estimation performance of an array strongly depends on the number and
locations of the array elements.
Cont…

 A seven-patch conformal antenna array is designed to demonstrate the idea.

 The six patches are placed on the sides while one is placed on the top of a truncated
hexagonal pyramidal.
 The simulation results prove that the conformal array achieves better DOA
performance compared with planar one.
 The proposed microstrip patch antenna element is shown in figure which is printed on
Rt/Duroid 5880 substrate with 30 mil thickness and relative permittivity of εr = 3.55.
OBJECTIVE:

 The main idea of our project is to improve the parameters like gain, bandwidth,
VSWR, return losses, directivity, and radiation pattern of a proposed truncated
hexagonal pyramid antenna.
