Background on RPCM.

• Established by Governor decree 59 on 11th June 2009


• Objectives
– Address root causes of conflicts through clear
understanding of context and take action to mitigate and
resolve on-going local conflicts and prevent the outbreak of
future conflicts.
– Successful reconciliation of parties for on-going or
unresolved conflicts around the state.
– Creation of conditions for peaceful co-existence among
communities in the state that will prevent the outbreak of
future conflict and create a positive environment for
successful CPA implementation
Composition

• 8 core members, 4 technical support staff


• Diverse tribal and political representation
• Civilians and former senior military/security
personnel
• Wide-ranging networks and high levels of
influence
Institutional Arrangements

• Reports directly to Governor
