    What is CRISPR/Cas9 system?


    • During tests on bacterias
    scientists found the CRISPR: an
    efficent defensive mechanism
    used to detect DNA viruses and
    destroy them.
    • For do that bacterias use a
    special protein called Cas-9.
    • This protein can find, cut,
    change and finally destroy the
    DNA viruses.
    A revolution in medical field
    • Since 2012 researchers started
    to study how Cas-9 can be used
    in medicine.
    • with this system there can be
    mutations that kill the
    phatogen, or you can find the
    sick base and replace it.
    • now scientist can study
    ilnesses easily and be more
    accurate on finding problems.
    Other uses
    • Cas-9 is not only used in the
    biomedical field in fact it is also
    used:
    • In agricolture to obtain more
    resistant plants without
    changing flavour
    • In the industrial field due to
    find with gene editing a new
    class of biofuels.
    Ethical problems
    • This technology can also be use
    to modify genes of healthy
    people, to make our organism
    more perfect and stronger.
    • So we are going to use Cas-9 to
    help us or we will become
    human designers?
