Human Behavior 
- It is the potential and expressed
capacity (mentally, physically,
socially) of human individuals  or
groups to respond to internal and
external stimuli throughout their life.

The Nature of Human Behavior
- Any act of an individual person which is considered human
behavior is a reflection of his/her thoughts, feelings and
emotions.

- It mirrors his needs, values,
motivation, inspiration,
conflicts and state of life.
Behavior, therefore, consists
of all human activities.

- Refers to the range of
behaviors exhibited by
humans and which are
influenced by culture,
attitudes, emotions, values,
ethics, authority, rapport,
hypnosis, persuasion, coercion
and genetics.

- The behavior of humans fall
within the range with some
behavior being common,
some unusual, some
acceptable, and some outside
acceptable limits.

- Human behavior is studied by the specialized
academic disciplines of psychiatry,
psychology, social work, sociology,
economics, and anthropology.

- It is experienced throughout an individual’s
entire lifetime. It includes the way they act
based on different factors such as genetics,
social norms, core faith, and attitude.

*Genetics
 behavior is impacted by certain traits each individual has.

*Social Norms
 dueto the inherently conformist nature of human society in general,
humans are pressurized into following certain rules and display certain
behaviors in society, which conditions the way people behave.

*Core Faith
 canbe perceived through the religion and philosophy of that
individual.

*Attitude
 canbe defined as “the degree to which the person has a
favorable evaluation of the behavior in question.”

- It is a systematic study and careful


application of knowledge about
how people act within
the  Organization.
Goals of Organizational Behavior
1. Describe: how people behave under a variety of condition
2. Understand: it enables to determine why people behave  as
they do
3. Predict: decision makers would be able to know the likely
behavior which employees might be 
4. Control: help managers direct the performance outcomes of
employees

- comprise of the internal social
system of organization,
consisting of individuals and
groups  as well as large and
small groups. Involves official,
unofficial, informal and formal
groups.

- it defines formal relationship and


use of people in organizations.
People have to be related in
some structural way so that their
work can be coordinated.

- provides the resources with
which people work and affects
the task that they perform. It
allows people to do more and
work better, but it also restrict
them in some ways.

- it is a part of a larger system that


contains many other elements such
as government, family,
competitors, and suppliers, among
others.
