The IELTS SPEAKING exams consists of 3 parts:

PART TIME CONTENT


1 5 min Questions on familiar topics (hobbies,
likes and dislikes

2 3-4 min Cue card question on a general topic.

3 4-5 min The examiner will ask you more


detailed and more abstract questions
about the topic in Part 2

(e.g. How important is friendship?).

TIPS FOR NOTE TAKING IN IELTS PART 2

▪ Focus on language more than content.

▪ Be informal – Try to use phrasal verbs , collocations ,


phrases used by native speakers.
