VELOCITY
Objectives:

At the end of the lesson you will be able

to:
• Distinguish between speed and
velocity quantities;
• Give the importance of speed and
velocity in the real world; and,
• Calculate speed and velocity.
Steps in Problem Solving
Step 1: Find the given in the problem Step 3: Choose the best formula
Given: distance = 120 meters Formula: Speed = distance
time = 60 seconds time

Step 2: Find the unknown

unknown = speed
Steps in Problem Solving
Step 4: Solve the problem
Speed = 120 meters
60 seconds

Step 5: Final answer

Speed = 2 meters per second or 2 m/s
FUN WALK AND
RUN
Instructions:

 Class will be divided into two.

 Students will need to find out who walks/runs

the slowest and fastest based on distance and
time.
PROCEDURE
1. Make a 50-m straight distance

2. Measure the total time Interval you spent in walking the

given distance and in running as you return to the starting
point.

3. Let the other members of your group do step 2 and record

time spent.
