LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 9 SCIENCE

Grade Level (7) Date : February 15,2023

( Wednesday )

Quarter Third Time Frame: 60 minutes

Content Standard The Learners demonstrate an understanding of:

1. Motion in one dimension.
Performance Standard The learner shall be able to:
Conduct a forum on mitigation and disaster risk reduction.

Learning Competency A.Describe the motion of an object in terms of distance or

displacement, speed or velocity and acceleration.), (S7FE-III-3)

I. Learning Objective 1. Describe motion as a change in position

2.Differentiate distance from displacement
3.Describe motion in terms of distance and displacement
4.Measure the total distance and displacement covered by a body.

Concept  Motion is a continuous change in position with respect to a

reference point for a particular time interval.
 Reference point is the starting point or origin for measuring motion.
 Distance is the total length of the entire path that the object or a
person traveled in moving from one place to another. A scalar
quantity.
 Displacement is the shortest distance from the starting point to the
final position represented by a symbol d with an arrow
above(indicating direction)

III. Learning Tasks

Engage Teacher’s Tasks: The teacher shall do the following:
 Post the scrambled words on the board and let the students form the
correct word based from the definition as a cue.
5 minutes
Hidden Words Definition Answer
A change in position with
respect to a reference point
TINOOM Motion
It is a quantity that includes a
number and a unit only and
CLARAS described by magnitude alone Scalar
It is a quantity described by
both magnitude and direction
ORTEVC Vector
It is a change in position of the
object from its starting point
SDIENTMPALCE Displacement
It pertains to the total length
NCEDSITA traveled by an object Distance
It is defined as the starting point
CEERFEERN for measuring motion Reference point

Guide Question:
1. Can you guess the topic of today’s lesson based from the scrambled
words that you have formed?

Explore Step I: The teacher will explain first the concept on motion using the
illustration:
Explicit Teaching
(I Do)  The teacher show picture of an ambulance carrying the vaccine in
motion.

Guide Questions:

1. How will you know that the ambulance is in motion?

2. What do you call the place of origin?
3. What is motion?
4. What are the two ways to find out how far did the object travel?

 The teacher show an illustration:

Guide Questions:
1. What is the total distance traveled?
2. What did you do to find the distance?
3. What will be the displacement?
4. What will you do to find the displacement?

 The teacher will show a picture of the path a student will take in
coming to school.

(We Do) Guide questions:

1. Which path will you take to reach your school quickly?
2. Green path? Why?
Assuming the teacher 3. Red path? Why?
was able to identify 4. Which path will take the longer time?
the following types of
learners:  The teacher will show a diagram which shows distance and
displacement.
1. Poor reading
comprehension
2. Gifted and Talented
3. Average learners
4. Fast learners

Guide Questions:
1. What is the distance in situation A, B, C? What is the displacement?
20 minutes 2. Can distance be equal to displacement?
3. When can distance be equal to displacement?

Explain Guide Questions:

1. Based from the activity that you have performed we will
differentiate distance from displacement by constructing a ven
diagram.
10 minutes

Elaborate Situation:
 Two people take different paths to the same place. Both start at
point A and ends up at point B. Their two paths are shown as a
(You Do) blue line, one as a red line.

15 minutes

Guide Questions:
1. Which person travels the greater distance?
