LESSON
EXEMPLAR Teacher CLARICE JENN R MALTO Learning Area SCIENCE
Teaching Date NOVEMBER 10-11, 2020 Quarter FIRST
Time 7:30 – 8:30 AM Number of Days FOUR

At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:

1. Infer that energy of the colors of light increases as one goes
towards the right side of the electromagnetic spectrum;
I.OBJECTIVES 2. Describe the existence of the color components of visible light using a prism or
diffraction grating; and
3. Tell the relationship between: frequency, wavelength of light and
amount of energy.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of some properties and
characteristics of visible light.
The learner shall be able to discuss phenomena such as blue sky, rainbow
B. Performance Standards and red sunset using the concept of wavelength and frequency of visible
light
Explain the hierarchy of colors in relation to the energy of visible light.
C. Most Essential Learning
Competencies (MELC)

Explain that the red is the least bent and violet is the most bent according to their
wavelengths or frequencies; and
D. Enabling Competencies
Demonstrate the existence of the color components of visible light using a prism
or diffraction grating.

IV. PROCEDURES
Goal Orientation
● The learners will do the walkthrough of the lesson
expectations.
● In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
● Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the
learners on the learning targets founded on KSAV
principles.

Brainstorming

A. INTRODUCTION
(1 day)

 Learners will be asked:

o How do rainbows formed?
o What is an electromagnetic wave?
o What type of electromagnetic wave does
rainbow came from?
o What is visible light?

Learning Task No. 2

● The learners will identify the components of the
electromagnetic spectrum using the diagram.
● Learners will be asked:
 By looking on to the details given in the diagram,
what are the seven identified components of the
electromagnetic spectrum?
 By studying the diagram of the electromagnetic
spectrum, what is the “light” that is found at the
very middle?
 By looking at the visible light, what specific color
of light has the longest wavelength? How about
the shortest wavelength?
 What specific color of light has the highest
frequency? How about the lowest frequency?
 Learners will discuss the relationship between: frequency,
wavelength of light and amount of energy.

B. DEVELOPMENT
(1 day) Learning Task No. 1
● The learners will describe the existence of the color
components of visible light using the diagram of prism.
● The learners will be asked:
 Based on the figure, what is the arrangement of
colors from top to bottom?
 Based on the concepts learned and by looking at
the diagram, what are the colors that have lower
energy than the color blue?
 What are the colors that have higher energy than
the color red?
 What are the colors that have higher frequency
than the color red?
 Which of the two colors: green or orange has the
higher energy? Higher frequency? Longer
wavelength?
 Which color has the most energy? Why?
 How will you relate the frequency, wavelength of
light and amount of energy of the color spectrum?
 Based on the diagram, what can you infer to the
arrangement of colors and their corresponding
amount of energy?

C. ENGAGEMENT
(1 day) Learning Task No. 3
1. Learners will make their own rainbow.
o Turn off the lights to dim your living room.
o Hold a CD and shine it with a flashlight.
o Observe what will happen.
o What did you find out?

Learning Task No. 4

 After doing the activity on Learning Task No. 3, learners
will make a reflection on it via Google Docs.

Learning Task No. 5

D. ASSIMILATION
(1 day) ● Learners will answer a 10-item multiple choice
assessment on Google Forms regarding the Hierarchy of
Colors in Relation to the Energy of Visible Light.

The learners will write their personal insights about the lesson
using the prompts below.
