Directions: Make a Personal Narrative. Choose one below for your topic.
A time when you:
• Were scared
• Overcame a big challenge
• Had to make a difficult decision
• Were proud of a friend or family member
• Did something you didn’t want to and ended up liking it
• Met a celebrity or someone you really admire
• Tried something new
• Made a mistake and had to apologize and/or fix the mistake
• Were in danger
• Helped someone in need
• Had a dream come true
• Got lost
• Felt inspired
• Had a really terrible day
Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, learners will be able
to:
Identify elements of personal narrative.
Develop writing process skills by writing a
personal narrative based on real events, utilizing
the first person point of view.
Allow to share their life with others that enables
students to appreciate their vicarious experiences
that happened within them.
A personal narrative is a story you choose to share with
readers, for it communicates your
understanding of yourself, others, and/or society. As
people, we remember stories, so your
personal narrative essay is a way you can transform an
ordinary experience into meaningful
commentary that is applicable to a broad audience.
A personal narrative essay uses the components
of a story: introduction, plot, characters, setting,
and conflict. It also uses the components of
argument, thesis, and conclusion
