How is R.A. NO. 9367 implemented?
• It was developed and ratified as oil prices escalated to record highs.

• Biofuels development is seen as means of attracting the needed

investment and new technologies to revitalize the neglected agricultural
sector.

• Mandates a minimum 1% biodiesel blend and 5% bioethanol blend by

volume in all diesel and gasoline fuels, respectively, being distributed and
sold in the country.

• Creation of National Biofuels Board (NBB)

FILIPINO SCIENTISTS
AND THEIR MAJOR
CONTRIBUTIONS IN
SHAPING THE FILIPINO
NATION THROUGH SCIENCE
AND TECHNOLOGY.
MARIA YLAGAN OROSA
• A Scientist, an Activist, a
Humanitarian, and a War Hero
• She loved her country and dedicated her
life to uplifting the Philippines through
food innovation.
• Known for her invention of banana
ketchup, powdered soybean, and
palayok oven.
•The innovations that
emerge from her studies of
native food, and the use of
fermentation and various
preserving techniques are
intended to bring forth self-
sufficiency and
empowerment for her
nation.
BENJAMIN ALMEDA SR.
• Known as the “Father of Filipino
Inventories”
• Benjamin Almeda Sr. in 1954 founded the
Almeda Cottage Industry (now named the
Alameda Food Machineries Corporation) in
Manila, Philippines, which manufactures his
numerous basic food-processing inventions.
• He designed his inventions mainly for use by
the fast-food industry and sandwich stands ,
thereby further improving the food industry in
terms of processing food much quicker and
easier.
• Almeda is known in
the innovation
industry for inventing
various food
processing machines
including meat
grinder , rice
grinder and coconut
grater which remain
widely and commonly
used today here in
the Philippines.
His inventions bettered the Philippines' food industry by paving the
way for innovative food processing technologies.

Furthermore, he designed a type of electric car called the AGT

(Almeda Generator Technology) Hybrid Electric Road Train,
which was powered by both electricity and gasoline. This vehicle
was designed to be an environmentally friendly and cost-
effective transportation solution for the Philippines.
Overall, Benjamin Almeda Sr.'s contributions to
science and technology have had a significant impact
on the Philippines, improving the country's
agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable
transportation. He is regarded as one of the country's
most accomplished inventors and is considered a
national hero for his contributions to the field of
science and technology.

His contributions have gained both national and

international acclaims. He was awarded a gold medal
from the World Intellectual Property Organization,
and in 1977 was conferred with a Panday Pira Award
for his talent and skills as technician.

• The “Faultfinder”

• Supervising Science Research Specialist of

the Department of Science and Technology-
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS)

• He contributes to the better understanding of

fault lines and earthquakes in the Philippines.
•Alongwith his team, they
successfully pinpointed different
active faults along the Greater
Metro Manila Area .

•Theirfindings lead to the revision

of Active Fault Map of the
Philippines.

•Hiscontributions extensively used

by different stakeholders to
mitigate disaster risks caused
by seismic hazards.
