THE 1987 PHILIPPINE CONSTITUTION, SEC. 10 ART. XIV

Science and Technology are essential for nation development


and progress. The State shall give priority to research
development, inventions, innovation, and their utilization; and
the science and technology, education training and service
period. It shall support indigenous, appropriate, and self-reliant
scientific a technological capabilities and their applications.
THE ROLE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN PHILIPPINE
NATION BUILDING

 Science and Technology discoveries, inventions and innovations brought about the
growth of industries and enterprises that eventually led to the rise of the cities.
 Outputs in the study of Science and Technology include more, new improved and
rapidly produced products to met the demands of the people.
 Provide driving force to the computer, information, and communication technology
(ICT)
 Discovery, development and promotion of various kind of medicines
 Science discoveries and technology innovations have made life easier

The Philippine government introduced and implemented


several programs, projects, and policies to boost the area
of science and technology
The goal is to prepare the whole country and it’s people

and a capacitate the people to live in a world driven by

Mandate
Executive Order No. 128 mandates the Department to
“provide central direction, leadership and coordination of
scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the
results there from are geared and utilized in areas of
maximum economic and social benefits for the people.

RA 10612  An act expanding the coverage of the
Science and Technology (S&T) scholarship program and
strengthening the teaching of science and mathematics in
secondary schools and for other purposes

PROJECT NOAH (NATIONAL OPERATION ASSESSMENT OF
HAZARDS)

Project NOAH is an integrated flood

FOR DEVELOPMENT (STRIDE) PROJECT

 STRIDE Project is a five-year $32 million initiative of the United States


Agency for International Development designed to spur inclusive
economic growth in the Philippines by boosting science and technology
research
 Works closely with Philippine academic institutions and industries to
transform their capacity to produce research, university graduates with
industry-relevant skills and training, and innovative partnerships
accelerate in development in the country
REGIONAL INVENTION CONTEST AND EXHIBITS
(RICE)

This is a nationwide activity conducted in different


regions to recognize the indispensability of the Filipino
inventors to the Philippine society and national economic
development. This serves as the qualifying round for the
National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) in 2022
