Contribution towards psYcHologY

B. F. Skinner was one of the most influential of American psychologists. A

behaviorist, he developed the theory of operant conditioning -- the idea that
behavior is determined by its consequences, be they reinforcements or
punishments, which make it more or less likely that the behavior will occur
again.
Operant conditioning

Operant conditioning, sometimes referred to as instrumental conditioning, is a

method of learning that uses rewards and punishment to modify behavior.
Through operant conditioning, behavior that is rewarded is likely to be repeated,
and behavior that is punished will rarely occur.
Example:
REINFORCEMNET
 POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT:
Positive reinforcement is a basic principle of Skinner's operant conditioning,
which refers to the introduction of a desirable or pleasant stimulus after a
behavior, such as a reward.

 NEGATIVR REINFORCEMENT:
Negative reinforcement occurs when something unpleasant or uncomfortable is
removed or taken away in order to increase the likelihood of the desired behavior.
