Roots & History
• The history of the family is a branch of social history that
concerns the sociocultural evolution of kinship groups
from prehistoric to modern times. The family has a
universal and basic role in all societies.
• Why history of family is important?
• A family health history can identify people with a higher-than-usual
chance of having common disorders, such as heart disease, high
blood pressure, stroke, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes.
These complex disorders are influenced by a combination of genetic
factors, environmental conditions, and lifestyle choices.
Tracing one’s generation
• Deeper Personal Identity

Tracing family roots back through generations can help a person connect
more deeply with a sense of self by learning about their family's past—
where they came from, who they were, what they did, the trials they
overcame, the accomplishments they achieved, the dreams they had
fulfilled.
• It also talks about how mental disorder could have originated or how they
were passed on from one generation to the next.
• What is the best way to trace your family origin?Through public
records you can find evidence in birth certificates, marriage certificates and
Wills for instance. Talking to people and writing to relatives could also
provide clues and ultimately your detective work could take you anywhere
from local graveyards and memorials to record offices.
Make a Family Tree
Genealogy: You can create this by being articulate about it.

Your diagram could start from you and trace it back to your
parent, grandparents from both paternal and maternal side .

You can be artistic about it.

Communication Patterns
• What is a communication model?
• . They can be considered to be systematic representations of the process
that help us understand how communication can be carried out. It is
also a pictorial representation of the communication process, ideas,
thoughts, or concepts through diagrams.
• Communication is the exchange of messages between a sender and a receiver
via a medium. This is the basic communication model. The receiver's response or
feedback is part of the model and consideration of the context(s) in which
communication takes place is also important.
The Importance of Communication
• In our daily life, communication helps us build relationships by allowing us to
share our experiences, and needs, and helps us connect to others
• It's the essence of life, allowing us to express feelings, pass on information and
share thoughts. We all need to communicate.
• Communication within the family is extremely important because it enables
members to express their needs, wants, and concerns to each other
• Open and honest communication creates an atmosphere that allows family
members to express their differences as well as love and admiration for one
another.
The four elements of communication
• What are the 4 C's of communication?
• They give us the four C's of effective communication:
• Clarity - Clarity implies emphasizing on a specific message or goal at a time, rather than trying to achieve
too much at once. Clarity in communication has following features: It makes understanding easier.
Complete clarity of thoughts and ideas enhances the meaning of message.
Coherence refers to the smooth flow of ideas in a conversation. There are two main strategies
that will make your communication coherent: organizing your ideas in a logical order, and
connecting them effectively by using transition words and phrases
Control in Communications is the process of monitoring and controlling communications
throughout the entire process to ensure the information is given. ...
Credibility. Credibility is a judgment that the audience makes about how believable the communicator
is, and it's important because people often choose to respond to a persuasive message based not on the
content but on their perception.
