• Ibrahim M. et al. (2007) uses steel slag as a bi-product of steel produced


during separation of molten steel from impurities in steel making
furnaces. Steel slag has high percentage of lime and magnesium oxides,
these steel slag have been implanted in America and Malaysia and
succeeded.
• Anna V et al. (2009) uses both HW and WM technologies to reduce the
use of fossil energy sources. This paper presents the comparison between
consumption and pollutant fluxes of hot and half warm mix asphalt plant.
• Shravani A et al.(2015) conducted test on HMA used for construction of
roads in India and observed the emissions of green house gases due to
hot mix technology. This issue of concern and reasons for development of
low energy and eco friendly cold and warm mixes.

• M Mohiey et al. (2020) uses rice husk ash in the place of mineral
filler. For this purpose, five different mixes were prepared; the first
was a control mix containing 100% lime stone dust as filler and 0%
RHA. While, other mixes contain 25%,50%,75% and 100% RHA.
Optimum bitumen content was determined using Marshall test.
• Jayvant C et al (2021) uses waste glass powder as alternative fillers in
place of stone dust. All fillers were characterized incorporating asphalt
mixes was analysed using static creep analysis, modified lottman
test,resilent modulus test and boiling water test.
• Syakirah A M et al. (2021) uses bottom ash waste as substitute
material. Utilization of bottom ash in the construction industry
encourages and promotes effective recycling og bottom ash an
identifies vast range of applications as fillers in the construction
industry.
Objectives of the Present

 To conduct various preliminary laboratory tests on all materials as per


standard specifications.

 To design and develop a Conventional Half Warm Mix Asphalt (HWMA)


and the Half Warm Mix Asphalt with additives and to conduct marshal
stability test.

 To compare the performance of both mixes and to recommend the


suitable Half Warm Mix Asphalt mixture with Steel slag and fillers for
the patching of pothole.
Methodology

i. The first and the foremost thing of the project is that
procurement of materials such as aggregate, Binder, Steel
Slag and waste materials as fillers.
ii. Preliminary laboratory test will be conducted as per relevant
code specifications.
iii. Next, development of Half warm mix asphalt mixture will be
conducted for the pothole gradation based on IRC: 116-2014.
iv. The comparison between conventional HWMA and HWMA
with steel slag and waste materials will be made based on
performance evaluation.
v. At last, conclusions will be made for pothole patching with
optimum strength based on detailed resist analysis.

Comparative Study:

Based on Marshal Stability Test , Stability Values will be compared and Optimum
Strength Percentage mix would be recommended.
