 Is a liquid tissue and circulating medium of the cardiovascular system.
 It comprises 8% of the human body weight. An average adult five liters of
blood.
 Its main function s are to transport materials and to fight infections.

 Is the liquid portion of the blood.
 It comprises about 55% of the blood by weight.
 Proteins dissolves in the plasma are gamma globulin, albumin, prothrombin,
and fibrinogen.

 The formed elements suspended in the plasma, comprises about 45% of the
blood by weight. There are three formed elements:
 Erythrocytes
 Leukocytes
 Thrombocytes

 Are the red blood cells.
 The red color is attributed to the pigment hemoglobin, an iron containing
molecule that can bind with oxygen.
 Red blood cells are biconcave in shape, elastic and anucleated.

 Compared to the red blood cells, they are not true cells.

 Chemical substances called antigen and antibody are mostly responsible in
blood types.
