Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine based
on the use of aromatic materials, including essential
oils and other aromatic compounds, with the aim of
improving psychological or physical well-being for
which there is no good evidence of efficacy.
How does it work?
Aromatherapy acts on our sense of smell and through
absorption into the bloodstream. About 15 percent of
the air we inhale goes to the roof of the nose, where
olfactory receptors carry smells directly to a part of
the brain called the limbic system.
