 What is Addition?
Addition is the idea of taking two numbers and combining or adding together to form a sum.
(Example: Sam has 2 apples and Toby gives same 3 more apples. Now how many apples would
Sam have?)

When Addition is used:
Addition could be used everyday, even outside the classroom!
Addition is typically used:
To count money
At the grocery store
To count time
To add items together
How to Add :
Adding is combining objects, money, numbers to get more or a
larger number/amount.
Students should understand the answer to an addition problem is
considered the sum of the equation. Proper addition is being able to
identify the sum of combining two or more objects or numbers
together.
Addition is an Important Skill Used
Everyday

Addition allows students to understand word problems that involve finding the sum
of two or more items or numbers together. This will help students apply this
knowledge to everyday use in the grocery store, counting money, and adding two or
items.
