WHAT IS HYDROTHERMAL ENERGY?

Hydrothermal energy is a type of geothermal energy that specifically uses hot water from geothermal
reservoirs. This water can be used directly for heating and other applications, or it can be used to
generate electricity through a process called binary cycle power generation. In binary cycle power
generation, the hot water is passed through a heat exchanger, which transfers the heat to a
secondary fluid with a lower boiling point. The secondary fluid then boils and produces steam,
which drives a turbine to generate electricity.

HOW HYDROTHERMAL ENERGY

WORKS?
Hydrothermal energy is a specific type of geothermal energy that uses hot water from geothermal
reservoirs to generate electricity. The hot water is brought to the surface through a well and sent
through a heat exchanger, which transfers the heat to a secondary fluid with a lower boiling point than
water. The secondary fluid vaporizes and turns the turbine to produce electricity. The hot water is then
either injected back into the reservoir to maintain pressure or used for direct heating and cooling
applications.

BINARY CYCLE POWER HYDROTHERMAL

GENERATION CONVECTIVE SYSTEM
Binary-cycle power plants transfer The convective geothermal system is
the heat from geothermal hot also called as hydrothermal
water to another liquid. The heat convective system . It is
causes the second liquid to turn to characterized by natural circulation of
steam, and the steam drives a the working fluid, thus most of the heat
generator turbine. is transferred by convection of
circulating fluids rather than by
conduction.
