Challenge:
Answers:
• a) (10, 4) as y = 4
• b) (7, 21), as y = 3x, not 3x + 1
• c) (5, 6), as 5 + 2x6 = 17, not 15
• d) (-3, -11), as 2 x (-3) + 5 = -1, not -11

• Challenge:
• x + y = 3 and y = 2x will have the same coordinates at the point of intersection,
therefore
• x + 2x = 3 , therefore 3x = 3 and x = 1
• When x = 1, y = 2x = 2x1 = 2.
