ASSESSMENT

DIRECTION: Answer the questions completely and diligently.

1. Do you believe it’s possible for someone who has been diagnosed with an addiction to limit her/his
use to a safe level? Why or why not?
- Although it is challenging to fast achieve the procedures for an addicted individual to change, we believe it is
possible for someone who has been diagnosed with an addiction to reduce their usage to a safe level. We
believe that having the commitment and mentality that the undesirable task should be abandoned is the first
step toward rehabilitation. It is of the utmost necessity to urge the addicted individual to get assistance, the
more aid and support a person receives, the higher their chances of succeeding. If they used drugs as a form of
self-medication for a mental health condition like anxiety or depression, they will need to develop healthy
ways to deal with these problems without abusing drugs. People must address both their addiction and their
mental health condition at the same time if they want to achieve long-term recovery.

2. Although marijuana has approved medical uses and less significant negative effects than some
other drugs of abuse, it remains classified as a Schedule I drug by the federal government,
meaning it is considered among the most dangerous drugs in terms of addictive potential and
other toxic effects, and not seen by the government as having legitimate medical uses. Why do you
think the federal government continues to maintain this official stance when so many states have
opted to legalize the medical use of marijuana to varying degrees? Do you see this changing in the
near future?
- The federal government continues to maintain this official stance in our country because many
people here are abusing this kind of drugs when we already know that this can be legalize of we are
going to use it in good way. I know someone use marijuana but they are not abusing it, they are actually
using it for medical uses. The government still see that marijuana is not helpful in our country because
teenagers right now are starting to take it. There is still hope that this will change in the near future
however the government should have more plans, objectives before they legalize this in our country.
