HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE

SYSTEMS
OBJECTIVES

 RELATE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM TO THE
PERPETUATION OF LIFE.
 EXPLAIN THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE
STRUCTURES OF THE MALE AND FEMALE
REPROUCTIVES TO THEIR FUNCTIONS.
 LIVING THINGS CAN REPRODUCE.
HUMANS IN PARTICULAR, REPRODUCE
SEXUALLY THROUGH WHICH TWO
PARENTS EACH PROVIDE HALF OF THE
GENETIC INFORMATION OF THEIR
OFFSPRING.
 THE MALE AND FEMALE HUMAN BEINGS
HAVE DIFFERENT REPRODUCTIVE
SYSTEMS THAT PERFORM SPECIFIC
ROLES TO FACILITATE REPRODUCTION
The Female Reproductive
System
The Female Reproductive System has the following
functions:

Produces female sex cells

 Receives sperm cells from the male
 Nurtures the development of and provides
nourishment for the new individual
Parts of the Female Reproductive
System
Role of Hormones

 Pituitary glands controls the function of the

testes.
 The male reproductive system also has prostate
glands. Chemicals from these glands nourish the
sperm cells and help them mature.
 The production of sperm cells and the release of
semen can be regulated by hormones.
Role of Hormones

 Pituitary gland controls the function of the

ovaries.
 The follicles produce hormones that control the
growth and release of eggs from the ovaries.
 While other hormones prepare the uterus so as a
baby grow in it, other hormones still control the
stretching of the uterus during pregnancy.
