GAS
EVAPORATION
EVAPORATION
The process by which
molecules on the
surface of a liquid break
away and change into
gas. It is where a liquid
is changed into a gas.
EVAPORATION

As evaporation takes place, water molecules which did not

escape and were left in the liquid have a lower average
kinetic energy than the molecules that escaped. The effect of
this is the decrease in the temperature of the liquid water
Remember :

Evaporation is a cooling process

EXAMPLES :
Acetone Rubbing Alcohol
Acetone and rubbing alcohol are volatile liquids. They
readily evaporate. As they evaporate, the molecules get
heat energy from your body leaving you with cool sensation
CONDENSATION
CONDENSATION

This is the process

where a gas is
changed to a
liquid. It is the
reverse of
evaporation.
EXAMPLES
Ground-level fog in Baguio Eye glass
ANOTHER EXAMPLES
Vehicles Glass of Water
BOILING
BOILING
Boiling is the rapid
vaporization of a liquid, which
occurs when a liquid is heated
to its boiling point, the
temperature at which the
vapor pressure of the liquid is
equal to the pressure exerted
on the liquid by the
surrounding environmental
pressure.
CHANGES
BETWEEN A
SOLID AND A
GAS
MELTING
MELTING
The transformation
process in which solid
is changed to a liquid.
The best example of
this is the melting of
the ice.
FREEZING
FREEZIN
G
It is the process in
which a liquid is
changed to a solid.
It is where a liquid
water becomes
solid water.
REVIEW !
There are three changes between liquid a gas :
~Evaporation is the process of turning liquid to a gas
~Condensation is the process of turning liquid to a gas
~BOILING IS WHEN A LIQUID IS
H E AT E D TO I T S B O I L I N G P O I N T
THERE ARE TWO CHANGES
BETWEEN SOLID AND A LIQUID

~Melting is a process of turning solid to a

gas
~Freezing is a process of turning liquid to
solid
