• WE can change the state of matter by two
techniques:-
• BY change in temperature
• By increasing or reducing pressure
 BY THE CHANGE IN

• By the process of evaporation, we can change liquid into gas
• By the process of condensation, we can change gas into liquid not
gas
• By heating we can change solid into liquid

• The process of conversion of liquid into gas at its boiling point. Is called evaporation.
• Boiling point is the point at which a substance startsw to boil that means start converting into its
gaseous state.
• E.g.:- water boils at 100degree Celsius.
C O N D E N S AT I O N

• The process of changing of gas to liquid and liquid to solid by cooling is called
condensation.
• In condensation the particles of matters comes together.
• E.g.:-the conversion of water to ice.
S U B L I M AT I O N

• It is the process in which a solid changes directly into gas without going to through its liquid state.
• The items which exhibit this property are known as sublime substance
• Eg:- Naphthene balls , camphor

• E.g.:- Ammonium chloride , iodine

BY INCREASING PRESSURE

• By increasing pressure, we can change the state of matter as by increasing

pressure the particles of matter comes together and the state changes
• By this process we can change gas to liquid and liquid to gas.
• This is also seen in CNG and LPG cylinders.
